About this hat
So-called Panama hats have long come from Ecuador, and El Fino follows that tradition. Its body is Grade 20 Panama straw, woven by hand in Ecuador and then shaped and trimmed in Texas. The color is simply called Panama, the natural shade of the toquilla fiber.
Shape-wise you get a regular oval, a 4 1/8-inch cattleman crown and a 4 1/4-inch brim with a medium curve. A tooled leather hatband carries a gold-tone Stetson pin, with genuine leather for the sweatband. At $600 this is a dress straw for summer weddings, horse races and anywhere a fine hat gets noticed. Fitted sizes 6 3/4 through 7 3/4.

Fit & care
Handwoven Panama is finer than shantung and does not forgive crushing, so never pinch the crown to lift it. Keep it in a hat box or on a shelf crown down, away from damp basements. If the fit is slightly loose, a strip of tape under the sweatband is safer than ordering a smaller size.
