About this hat

Gus is the one for folks who want a different shape. The crown measures 4 by 5 1/2 inches in the Gus style, tall at the back and sloping toward the front. A 3 3/4-inch brim holds the outline compact, and the profile looks old-fashioned in the best way.

It is made from 10X quality shantung straw in Natural, cut on a regular oval, and wrapped with a braided leather cord hat band. A genuine leather sweatband sits inside. Men and women can both wear the Gus, which is cut unisex in sizes running 6 3/4 to 7 3/4. It sells for $180 and is handmade in America.

The sloped Gus crease is distinctive, so avoid grabbing the crown and pressing it flat. Set the hat on its crown or on a rack, never on the brim. Straw does not stretch, so if you sit between sizes, take the larger one and add tape.
